GebChak Nuns

The Gebchak nuns are renowned throughout Eastern Tibet for their accomplishments in yogas and meditation, and were featured in the documentary film "Blessings: The Tsoknyi Nangchen Nuns of Tibet", narrated by Richard Gere, and in the book "Blazing Splendor."


In his first visit outside of Asia, and only his 3rd outside of Tibet, Rinpoche's intention is to create awareness about his Gebchak nuns and their profoundly unique yogini tradition, as well as the strong need to preserve their precious spiritual tradition in our world today. Rinpoche will be sharing stories and giving teachings about women's unique spiritual potential and their challenges. His talk will be shared as an exchange that is relevant to women's lives here and now in the west. He will also be sharing some of the unique practices from the Gebchak tradition, which are specially adapted for the female body.


GebChak Nuns

Wangdrak Rinpoche is abbot of Gebchak Gonpa, holding responsibility for the nuns' spiritual training and their material well-being. Wangdrak Rinpoche the third is the reincarnation of Wangdrak Dorje. Along with the Gonpa's founder, Tsangyang Gyamtso, Wangdrak Dorje was instrumental in building Gebchak and was renowned for his total mastery of profound yogas and meditation. The present incarnation holds the Khenpo degree (equivalent to a doctorate) in Buddhist philosophy, and has received a remarkably broad training in the Nyingma, Sakya, and Kagyu traditions.
